Literary Response

I learned a lot of things when reading Out of my Mind that made me view things differently. I like how Sharon Draper wrote Out of my Mind in first person point of view. Most importantly the story in first person point of view helps me understand what Melody goes through. “I can hardly wait, while Penny watches Sesame Street, I dream of talking.” At this point when inclusion classes started in Melody’s school I got to understand how the kids in room h-5 were outcasts, then with these classes feel more included. “Well it was almost a disaster. Willy, upset and scared about being in about being in a new room, started yelping. Jill began to cry. She held tightly to the hand grips of her walker and refused to move. To end with I enjoyed the part when Melody took Rose to the aquarium. After I saw that everyone needs to spend time with friends and family. “At school Rose whispered about the trip, just like the other kids do when they have secrets. I felt like a real girl.” Those where a few things I learned and the things that made me feel differently in life from Out of Mind.
