Fireworks light up the black sky
Beautiful splashes of color
So loud
As if it were a bomb

We watched the massive ball drop
So big and bold

The clock
It was ticking
But soon it struck 12
And everyone yelled
With joy in their voice
“Happy New Year”
We welcomed new chances
And bettering ourselves

After the celebration
We sat together
Eating soft, chewy, chocolate chip cookies
