I like how Sharon Draper hooked us in with the first sentence. “I’m surrounded by thousands of words” that definitely hooked me in. Sharon Draper wrote Out of my Mind in Melody’s point of view. It really helps you understand what she goes through. “I can’t walk. I can’t talk. I can’t take myself to the bathroom.” Sharon Draper made great imagery in Out of my Mind “one wall is covered with a sun and a happy face , a huge rainbow and dozens of flowers.” that sentence really paints a picture in my mind. Out of my Mind is a great book and I’m happy with the decisions Sharon Draper made.
